Detailed chemical and biological analyses show that the natural mud of Cervia is a very rare, lagoon mud silt whose special properties derive from the slow sedimentation of mineral salts and organic substances present in sea water and deposited in the saltings.
At its application temperature of 40°C, the mud has a characteristic black colour and is sufficiently plastic enough to be applied in a thin layer. The therapeutic effect of mud can be heightened by taking a walk in the sun or lying on the sun terrace combining the healing properties of fangotherapy with the beneficial effects of sunlight.
